Children in the car

Important tips!

When using other child safety products

available on the market it is important that the

installation instructions are carefully read and

closely followed. These are some points that

you should consider:

· Child cushions and/or child seats with steel

frames or other parts which could press

against the seat belt release button must not

be used as they could accidentally cause the

belt buckle to open.

· Volvo has child safety products, which are

designed and tested for use in Volvo cars.

· The child seat should always be located

according to the manufacturer’s description.

· Do not attach the child seat straps to the

seat springs, rails or any of the rails and

struts under the seat which may have sharp

edges.

· Arrange the child seat backrest so that it

rests against the dashboard.

· Do not allow the top portion of the child

seat to rest against the windscreen.

· Never place a child seat on the front seat if

the car is equipped with an activated* airbag

(SRS) on the passenger side.

NOTE! If you have difficulties installing the

child safety product, contact the manufacturer

for clearer installation instructions.

Children should sit

comfortably and safely

Remember that children, regardless of age or

size, should always be securely strapped into

the car. Never allow a child to sit on the knee of

a passenger!

Location and equipment must be selected with

regard to the weight of the child.

Volvo’s own child safety equipment is designed

for your car. If you select Volvo equipment, you

can be sure that the mounting points and

attachments are correctly positioned and

sufficiently strong.

The smallest children should sit in rear-facing

seats. These give children up to the age of

3 years maximum protection.

NOTE! Many countries have statutory

requirements covering where a child may be

located in the car. Find out which rules apply in

the countries you visit.

* For information on activated/deactivated

airbag (SRS), see page 16.

WARNING!

Never place a child in a child seat or

booster cushion on the front seat if the

car is equipped with an activated* airbag

(SRS) on the passenger side. Failure to

follow this advice could endanger the

life of the child.
