Oil Filters

Before working on a vehicle, set the parking brakes,

place the transmission in neutral, and block the

wheels. Failure to do so can result in unexpected

vehicle movement and can cause serious personal in-

jury or death.

CAUTION

Use only the engine manufacturer’s oil ﬁlter for re-

placement. Use of an oil ﬁlter not built to speciﬁcation

could result in severe damage to bearings, crankshaft,

etc. as a result of unﬁltered oil entering the lubrication

system.

Note: Always dispose of oil according to Federal and lo-

cal regulations. Used oil disposed of inappropriately can

contaminate nature, waterways, community drinking wa-

ter, and kills wildlife.

Install new ﬁlters as follows:

•

Coat the ﬁlter gasket with oil.

•

Install the ﬁlter and turn it by hand until the gasket

makes contact with the sealing surface.

•

Then turn the ﬁlter an additional 3/4 turn.

Oil Level Check

Note: Do not let the oil level drop below the lower mark-

ing on the dipstick. Do not overﬁll so the level is above

the upper marking on the dipstick.

Wait ﬁve minutes after shutting off the engine before

checking the oil level. This gives the oil time to drain

back to the oil pan.
